Can I Grow My Own Marijuana in Philadelphia

In Philadelphia, just like the rest of Pennsylvania, marijuana is medically legal. This means that not everyone can legally purchase marijuana from the state’s dispensaries. This means that possession of small amounts (usually 30 grams or less) does not result in criminal penalties. Now, this does not mean that marijuana is legal. It just means that there is some leniency with possession of small amounts of marijuana. 

How to Get Marijuana in Philly

In Philadelphia, the only way to legally purchase marijuana is through a medical marijuana dispensary. This of course is only an option for individuals with medical marijuana cards. Those without medical marijuana cards have one other legal option – buying cannabis through the Hemp (THCA) loophole. THCa flower is essentially marijuana that is legal through the hemp laws. Can I Grow Marijuana at Home in Philadelphia

The short answer is – No, you cannot grow your own marijuana in Philly or the rest of Pennsylvania. Marijuana legalization does not always include the right to grow your own marijuana. In fact, several recreationally legal states do not allow for home cultivation. If you feel that you should be able to grow your own marijuana at home, you may consider writing to your state representatives asking them to include home cultivation in any marijuana legalization bills.
